The first thing: Birds were the reason we became good friends, all of we are volunteers in Sal a Pajarear (Go out for birding) a Bird conservation programm in the Yucatán Peninsula,  that contribuite to the bird conservation in our communities, the activities are focus in  children and environmental education

 

Holbox Birding Tours  is our project, we have been dreamed of and now is a reality.

Birds are part of our lives, they have been always around us  in the stories that our grandparents told us, in our culture, in art, in beautiful poems and paintings, in the music where they talked about their amazing colours, they songs and their capacity  to fly.

    Importance of Yum Balam for the Birds

​

 

Yum Balam is a Protected Area of Flora and Fauna, decreted in June 6, 1994. Its extension includes Holbox Island and Chiquilá, that gives differents habitats as lagoon, sea, jungle, sand banks, which offer a big variety of birds, we have about 350 species like shorebirds, herons, warblers, hawks and another endemic species.
